Yard update!

There have been some improvements made on the backyard! Mile's dad came over with the John Deer to help clear and level the yard. They worked all Saturday on it and we really appreciated his dads time. Now for the photos!

Now that the backyard is all dirt, we have to spray it to keep the weeds down and the find time to put in sprinklers

We have also finally installed blinds!! Which our neighbors are probably very grateful. Only took us 2 months!

Our house is really coming together. We are getting more and more furniture as we can afford it and the decorating is slowly starting! I think i'm taking my time because I want it to be stuff I really love. I have already bought three pieces are furniture that were returned because I changed my mind haha. I'm hoping  I will just come home one day and it will be completely decorated. Until then, it's fun deciding what will look good!

Summer Time!

It has been a very fun and eventful summer lately for Miles and I. Last weekend my family came up from St. George and we made sure they had a good time!

Saturday we went up to East Canyon for some boating!

This picture pretty much sums up how exciting their day was...love these kids.

To celebrate the 24th of July we set off some good ole' fireworks! Simon, Amanda and sweet little Huston came over for the party!

Sunday after church we went over to the Dunn house for some horse back riding!

Then that night we made homemade pizzas!

I really love when family comes to town because we are scattered all over the world and I miss them all the time. I wish Annie and Elliot were just a three hour drive away too! It was a very fun weekend for us and hopefully they had fun too :)

My dreams.

Hello friends,

Today is Miles and my 1 year anniversary and we have been married for a little over a month now. Hip hip hooray! It was today a year ago that I was sitting at work and I got a sweet instant message from him asking me to be his girlfriend. If you haven't noticed, the internet has been very important in our relationship. haha, but at the time i thought it was pretty adorable. Especially because he was sitting behind me. Love you Miles!

Moving along...

Here are my inspirations for the house. I always knew the kind of style I liked but didn't know the words to describe it. I have decided my taste falls under French cottage and shabby chic.

I love everything about this look. From the white, clean, smooth accents to the exposed brick. If I could, I would buy a 1920's home with the original doors and windows. My mom recently purchased the most adorable house similar to one I've dreamed of. They are doing a great job fixing it up but still keeping it's original charm. I always imagined myself in this sort of home and hopefully one day I will. For now, I live in Lehi. Our house is very new, neutral and more of a western style. It has taken me a while to be inspired but I am starting to find things I like by still adding the touch of style that I love. I am incredibly blessed to be in the home we are in and I am starting to really enjoy the journey of decorating. I am not letting the colors or style of the home stop me from adding my sense of style to it!

On a very exciting note, Miles and I finally broke down and bought nice pillows. After 5 years of looking, I finally found the perfect pillow :) I own over 20 pillows. I love pillows. Miles used to call me the pillow lady while we were dating because I lived in a basement with tons of pillows. He knew how important it was to me and we finally went to bed bath and beyond and bought him the "back and stomach" sleeper while I got the "side sleeper". I am having a love affair with my pillow. If I could, my bed would look like this.

This is what my heaven looks like:

Until next time!

The Project.

Miles and I have let our yard go just a little bit. We have been so preoccupied with getting our house together that we haven't shown much love to our backyard. After three weeks of having our lawn mowed by neighbors, we got the hint that lawns are important in this neighborhood. We bought our first red, shinny lawn mower and prepared to go to town on our weeds. Here is our new toy.....

Here are some before pictures so you can see what we are working with.

Miles mowed while I pulled and I have to say I am very happy with how much we got done on our first day. It felt really good working with our hands and working on our house. That night we talked about how much more the house felt like ours. It is a little difficult grasping the idea of home ownership. I have always had a landlord and so knowing this is ours and we can do whatever we want with it has been a different experience. We have such fun plans for our backyard and I can't wait to watch the progress and best of all, see the finished product!

Here is us working hard! Some may ask why I am dressed from head to toe working in the blazing sun. We moved to the lovely city of Lehi which is close to the lake which = mosquitoes. With all my efforts they still managed to bite me through my clothes and cover me with bites. You just can't win with these guys!! It's worse here than it was in Georgia!!

(this little area had a nice friendly surprise for me in the form of a snake. I screamed. It was scary.)

(I enjoy killing weeds.)

It was a really fun day working outside with Miles and we are falling more and more in love with our house (and each other, hehehe)! Here are the after shots of Day 1.

I have decided that I like posting pictures more than actually writing. They are fun to have and something my journal could never keep.

Cheers!

Once upon a time....

Our Dunn story starts with a little place called 1-800 CONTACTS. Long story short, I saw on an email list that a Mr. Miles Dunn was signed up for Co-ed softball and I happened to think he was handsome and wanted to get to know him better. So, I signed up for the one sport I was never interested in. After noticing each other at practice and sitting next to each other at work, I finally got that one special email (yes, email) from the mr. asking me if I would like to go out sometime.

Soooo......

After one year of friendship.......

Four months of serious dating......

An engagement on October 27th, 2010......

One purchased home April 28,2010.....

there was finally a wedding on May 7th 2011!

Thus closes the chapter of dating and engagements and leaves us with another one to fill. I'm excited for what it will bring. We have already had a wonderful month (as of tomorrow) of marriage and so far it's the best thing ever :)

Marriage!

So once again, I find myself blogging. Some of you may not know this about me but I am one of the original bloggers. My blog dates back from middleschool in 2003 with a little place called Deadjournal. The difference now being that I actually don't mind my parents reading this! In fact, I hope they do :)

This blog will be the writings of the new adventure I like to call marriage. It is for our family all over the world, our friends we don't get to see much and for people who enjoy stalking. But most of all, this blog is for us. I have always been really great at keeping journals but can't find the time to sit down and write. I am hoping with this being online that I can post pictures, stories and announcements for everyone to see and for us to always remember. We have been incredibably blessed and have so many new things to enjoy that I want to remember it all. Cheers!
